Invited by Ljubljana City Library in Slovenia and Association of Oriental Home in Serbia, three people headed by our Associate Librarian visited Ljubljana City Library and Belgrade City Library from September 11 to September 18, 2018, receiving warm welcome by Chief Librarians and other librarians from above mentioned libraries. The visit is not only a response to the “One Belt and One Road” strategy of the state, improving cultural exchange of bilateral countries and the project of “Window of Shanghai”, but also a field study on architectural feature of the two libraries as well as specific business study on literature layout and literature purchasing policies, etc, which give reference to business construction for Shanghai Library Pudong Branch.
Ms. Teja Zorko, Chief Librarian of Ljubljana City Library, introduced in detail the business features and the latest data of their library in recent years. After accompanying the delegation visiting the layout of the editorial center and the reading room of their library, she led the delegation to Šiška Branch Library where “Window of Shanghai” located to visit the Donation Area. Mr. Zhou expressed high compliments to Ljubljana City Library on their innovative initiatives in service, and presented serial pictures books--Myths & Legends China to Ljubljana City Library as a gift, with the hope of introducing more fine traditional cultural heritage of Chinese nation to local readers.
On September 15, the delegation of Shanghai Library visited the Belgrade City Library in the capital of Serbia, receiving passionate reception by Ms. Jasmina Ninkov, Chief Librarian of Belgrade City Library. They had in-depth bilateral exchanges on basic business situations of respective libraries. Ms. Jasmina Ninkov showed great interest to the project of “Window of Shanghai” introduced by Mr. Zhou. Both libraries will gradually put into practice the cooperation details such as book exchange, business exchange and culture exchange, so as to deepen friendly cooperative relationship.
